Pre-K, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Gymnastics - Ages 3-5
Our pre-K program provides students with a variety of dance experiences in a structured, yet fun, class setting. Students develop basic dance skills, learn the format and routine involved in weekly dance class, and generally have a good time!
Ballet
Based on the Cecchetti method of classical ballet, our Ballet Program introduces students to the basics of the art form and gradually increases their skills, technical knowledge, grace, and musicality. Divided into multiple levels
based on age and ability, the program provides appropriate classes for beginner through advanced students.
Pointe - Ages 10 and up
Much emphasis is placed on proper technique and alignment as students expand their ballet skills to include Pointe. Pointe is an option for intermediate and advanced students who have demonstrated consistent proper
alignment and adequate strength and flexibility. Instructor permission required, minimum age requirement is 10.
Jazz
Set to the rhythm of current rock, pop, R & B, and techno music, jazz provides students with a faster paced dance class alternative. The class will encompass a variety of stretches, turns, and jumps and across the floor progressions.
We emphasize the classic stylized technique and movements that are the trademarks of jazz dance.
Tap
Utilizing the graded syllabus developed by the late (and great) Al Gilbert, tap students learn a progression of steps and combinations from the classic to the contemporary. Emphasis is placed on clarity and accuracy of steps in a traditional dance class format.
Modern or Lyrical - Ages 6 and up
Done barefoot, modern dance was originally created by people who wanted to dance and loved to move, but did not care for the “rigid structure” of ballet. Sometimes called Contemporary or Interpretive Dance, Modern combines a wide
variety of movement styles and activities that often include whole body movements, body swings and tilts, and floor work.
Hip-Hop
A rhythmic style of dance associated with Hip-Hop Music, which often includes elements of “street” or break dance, funk, soul, and R & B.
Gymnastics
Incorporates exercises requiring physical strength, agility and coordination. Classes typically include exercises involving stretching, balances, and use of gross motor skills to include work on the balance beam & floor mats. Each level is challenged
according to their ability with a goal of mastering such skills as basic tumbling, handstands, headstands, cartwheels, front and back walkovers, splits, jumps and combinations thereof.
Tambourine & Banner Dance
A form of cultural based dance incorporating use of tambourines or banners in rhythmic patterns set to choreographed dance steps. Begins with simple skills and builds into more complex combinations.
